FAQ: Subscriber Guide

UTPERKS

What is UTPERKS?
Union-Tribune Perks! is a loyalty program to thank subscribers for their commitment to the Union-Tribune. U-T Perks! rewards subscribers with exclusive contests and special deals absolutely free with their print subscription.

I am already registered for Perks - why do I have to re-register?
Your old login information that you used for Perks will no longer work because we have created a brand new Perks website which is linked to your subscription account. In addition to providing a more efficient and quicker Perks website, you will now be able to access your Union-Tribune account to view and pay your bill, change your account information or put your paper on a temporary stop.

How do I register for UTPERKS?
Follow the easy directions found here.

I am trying to login but the system won’t take my information.
You may need to re-register your account. Access the "Click here to Register" link at the bottom of the login page. From the registration page, type in your home phone number or the phone number on your subscription and your last name so the system can locate your subscription. If you aren’t sure what phone number is on your subscription you may use your house number or zip code along with your last name.

If you still have trouble please contact customer service at (800) 533-8830, and they will look up your account for you.

I have logged into Perks, and when I click to enter a contest, it takes me to another username/password login area. What’s going on?
You will need to create a new Username/Password, and you will only have to do this once! This gets you into our contests system and enables you to enter contests with the click of a button (vs. entering all of your address and contact information).

If you have never seen this box before, that probably means that you haven’t created an account yet. Follow the prompts for a "New User".

If you are trying to register as a "New User" and the system states that the email address you entered is already in use, click on the "Forgot Password" link and the system will send you a link to re-set your password.

How will the Union-Tribune help me save money?
Knowledge is power. Therefore, whether it's news on the continuing power crisis, prices at the pump, traffic congestion, new housing developments or any news that affects you and your family, being informed puts you in the driver's seat.
  • Clip a few grocery coupons from the Sunday paper, and your subscription has already saved you more than it costs.
  • Find at least $240 worth of coupons in the Sunday Union-Tribune each month.
  • Save on dining and entertainment by flipping through Thursday's Night & Day section.

TEMPORARY STOP

How do I stop my paper temporarily while on vacation?
Delivery can be temporarily stopped by visiting our Circulation Customer Service page or calling (800) 533-8830. At your request we will donate the value of your stopped papers to locals classrooms through the Newspaper in Education program. This popular program promotes literacy by providing free newspapers to San Diego Schools.

What options are available to me, when I temporarily stop my subscription?
  1. You may donate your missed papers to the schools through the Newspapers In Education program.
  2. We can save your newspapers for you while you are gone.
  3. We can extend your subscription paid-through date for the number of days that you are away.
